Many of our undergraduates continue
their education in many of the top ranking graduate
programs nationwide including Chicago Art Institute,
Yale, Rhode Island School of Design (RISD), California
Institute of the Arts, UCLA and UCSD.
In addition to having distinguished
careers as artists, many of our MFA graduates have teaching
positions nationwide including, Chris Burden, full professor
at UCLA; Kim Abeles, full Professor at CSU Northridge,
Tammy Rae Carland, Associate Professor at California
College of Arts and Crafts (CCAC); Mary Ellen Strom
is the Chair of the film and video program at the School
of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston; and Ken Gonzalez-Day,
Associate Professor at Scripps College. In general,
there are many graduates who teach in many of the finest
art programs.
Some notable accomplishments by MFA
alumni include:
Alicia Beach, a painter, just closed
a one-person show at Rosamund Felsen gallery in Los
Angeles.
Kori Newkirk who has had many solo exhibitions
and important museum exhibitions recently completed
a commission for the Henry Art Gallery at the University
of Washington in Seattle.
Margaret Morgan and Sean Duffy have
regular one person shows at Susanne Vielmetter gallery
in Los Angeles.
Tammy Rae Carland is about to open a
one-person show in San Francisco.
Mary Ellen Strom due to open a $300,000
public art project entitled Geyserland in Montana in
August.
Erica Cho received a highly coveted
grant from Creative Capital as well as City of Los Angeles.
Hoang Nguyen whose video work has been
featured in Film and video festivals is currently pursuing
a PhD in Rhetoric at UCLA.
Ronald Stroud designed the exhibition
for the 4th Gwangju Biennale.
Pato Hebert who also teaches at many
colleges including Cal Arts is included in an exhibition
at Japanese American National Museum.
Viet Le, photographer who was
awarded a year-long residency at Provincetown, MA and
also recieved the PEN award for emerging writers in
2001.
