Hollywood, CA - L'ART PROJECTS is proud to present "The Shape of Things," featuring photographs, painting, and sculpture from artists Aaron Farley, Kate Johnson, Rachel Roske and Katie Shapiro. In addition to the gallery presentation, a twelve-foot evergreen tree will be decorated with prints from illustrator and printmaker Clay Hickson. In the spirit of the giving season, proceeds from sales will benefit two charities: TEEN LINE and UNICEF Chinese Children’s Initiative.

Each of the artists in the show explore the formal aspects of the photographic medium: shape, color, light, dimension, and more. Katie Shapiro choreographs stunning compositions with the photographic process, overlaying colors and shapes upon each other to beautiful effect. Aaron Farley, featured in the respected art tome Milk & Honey: Contemporary Art in California, photographs landscapes and studio setups, creating final artworks that reach beyond the wall to become discreet objects. Using placid photographs of sky and water as source material, Kate Johnson's work resides in the liminal space between two and three dimensions, with geometric photographs that seem sculptural. Rachel Roske’s graphite on canvas paintings are mysterious and intriguing. Based upon photographs of shadows, she considers formal aspects in terms of negative and positive, dark and light.
