ALUMNI MIMI LAUTER, MARIO YBARRA, JR., ASHLEY HUNT, AND OTHER UCI STUDIO ART-AFFILIATED ARTISTS IN HAMMER MUSEUM'S FIRST BIENNIAL

The Hammer Museum recently announced the 60 Los Angeles-based artists chosen to particpate in its first biennial Made in LA, who are also eligible for the $100,000 Mohn Prize.  The first edition of this exhibition emphasizes emerging and under-recognized artists working in Los Angeles.  A number of UCI Studio Art-affiliated artist are included in the biennial, including alumni Mimi Lauter (MFA '10), Mario Ybarra, Jr. (MFA '01), and Ashley Hunt (BA '95); visiting lectuers Mark Hagen, and Allison Miller; and D'Ette Nogle, Koki Tanaka, and Erika Vogt, three artists who were recently selected for solo exhibitions in the Room Gallery.

The biennial will be from June 2 to September 2, 2012.
