The Department of Art is very pleased to announce the newest addition to the faculty, Amanda Ross-Ho.
Amanda Ross-Ho is a remarkably diverse artist whose sculptural explorations and investigations into photography and the cultural circulation of images seek to expand how we experience visual information. Ranging from sculpture, photography, painting, collage and installation, her work mines the material culture of the artist’s studio as a fertile site for generative processes..., and cultivates carefully articulated poetic environments as sites of public display.
Ross-Ho’s exceptional international exhibition record includes solo exhibitions in highly respected venues including the Museum of Contemporary Art Los Angeles, the Visual Arts Center at University of Texas Austin, the Museum of Contemporary Art Cleveland, and the Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago. She has just completed major new projects forthcoming this fall at the De Vleeshal in the Netherlands and traveling to the Bonner Kunstverein, Germany in 2017. The exhibition will be accompanied with a new monographic publication on Ross-Ho’s work.
Her work has also been included in numerous important group exhibitions and publications including: the 2008 Whitney Biennial, Whitney Museum of American Art, New York, Picturing the Studio, School of the Art Institute of Chicago, 2009, Free, the New Museum, New York, 2010, New Photography, the Museum of Modern Art, New York, 2010, In the Cut: Collage as Idea, Australian Centre for Contemporary Art, Melbourne, 2013, ANAMERICANA, American Academy in Rome, 2013, and Ordinary Pictures, at the Walker Art Center, Minneapolis, 2016.
Ross-Ho’s work has received extensive critical review, featured in many influential publications including: Art Forum, The New York Times, Flash Art International, The Los Angeles Times, The Chicago Tribune, The New Yorker, Time Out London, Frieze, and Bomb Magazine.
Amanda Ross-Ho will be an enormous asset to both our graduate studio programs and the area of sculpture in the Department of Art.
